App Store screenshot sizes in 2026
Short answer: for the App Store you need one iPhone size (1179 × 2556), plus 2064 × 2752 if your app runs on iPad. Google Play wants at least 4 portrait shots at 1080 × 1920 or larger. Everything else is optional.
against App Store Connect screenshot specs and Google Play graphic assets. Narrative version on DEV Community.
Minimum uploads (quick reference)
| Store | Asset | Pixels (portrait) |
|---|---|---|
| App Store | iPhone (Dynamic Island, medium) | 1179 × 2556 or 1206 × 2622 |
| App Store | iPad 13" (if iPad binary) | 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 |
| Google Play | Phone screenshots (×4+) | ≥ 1080 × 1920 each, no alpha |
| Google Play | Feature graphic | 1024 × 500, no alpha — see feature graphic |
Before you upload to App Store Connect or Play Console
- Export JPEG or PNG without an alpha channel. A PNG can look fully opaque and still carry an alpha channel; App Store Connect rejects it with "Images can't contain alpha channels or transparencies". Browsers and many design tools save PNGs as RGBA by default. Check on a Mac with
sips -g hasAlpha shot.png(you wantno), and fix withmagick shot.png -background white -alpha remove -alpha off shot.pngor by exporting JPEG. AppShot exports 24-bit RGB PNGs. - Confirm pixel dimensions match a row in Apple’s spec (wrong size → “invalid screenshot” in Connect).
- Upload the Dynamic Island medium slot even if you also ship optional 6.5" / 6.7" sizes — see 6.5" display.
- For iPad builds, include a 13" class still — see iPad Pro sizes.
- Play Console: upload at least four phone shots ≥1080 px wide plus the 1024×500 feature graphic.
- Preview in AppShot at exact export px before upload — free tool.

App Store screenshot size for 6.5" displays (2026)
App Store Connect does not use the marketing label “6.5 inch” anymore. That class is iPhone with Face ID, large display: upload 1242 × 2688 or 1284 × 2778 portrait only if you did not supply Dynamic Island large-display shots (1290 × 2796, 1320 × 2868, etc.). For most new apps the hard requirement is still 1179 × 2556 (Dynamic Island, medium). Design at 1290 × 2796 once, then export the required sizes from the same layout.
iPhone Duo screenshot size (App Store, 2027)
Apple's screenshot specifications list two new iPhone Duo display classes. Sizes are portrait, in pixels:
| Display | Size | When it's required |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Duo, outer display | 1398 × 2034 | From April 2027, for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later |
| iPhone Duo, inner display | 2007 × 2853 | Same: April 2027, iOS 27.1 SDK or later |
Landscape versions are also accepted: 2034 × 1398 (outer) and 2853 × 2007 (inner). Until April 2027 the Duo slots are optional, and your usual required iPhone size (1179 × 2556) still has to be there.
Why do it before it's required: according to Apple, when you submit iPhone Duo screenshots your App Store product page shows a badge telling people the app is optimized for iPhone Duo.
Why you can't just resize your iPhone screenshots: both Duo screens are much wider than an iPhone. The inner display is about 0.70 wide-to-tall and the outer about 0.69, against roughly 0.46 for a 1290 × 2796 iPhone shot. Stretched to fit, your UI looks distorted. Scaled to fit, it gets wide empty bars. Two honest options:
- Capture the real layout on the device itself, or in Xcode's Simulator if your Xcode version includes an iPhone Duo device. This matters most for the inner display, where a well-made app shows a wider layout.
- Place your existing screenshot on a designed background at the exact Duo size, with a caption. AppShot has both Duo sizes in its size list (free, runs in the browser).

iPad Pro / 13" App Store screenshot sizes
If the binary runs on iPad, App Store Connect requires a 13" display class screenshot: 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 portrait (landscape = swapped). Older “iPad Pro” threads that only mention 2048 × 2732 are still valid as one of the accepted pairs. 11" / 10.5" sizes are optional — Connect scales from the next size up when they are missing. Export iPad from the same master layout you use for iPhone (letterbox or reflow; don’t stretch).
Google Play
| Asset | Rule |
|---|---|
| Phone screenshots | 2 to 8. JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha. Each side 320 to 3840 px, and the long side at most 2× the short side. |
| For recommendation placements | At least 4 screenshots at 1080 px minimum: 9:16 portrait (≥ 1080 × 1920) or 16:9 landscape (≥ 1920 × 1080) |
| Tablets / Chromebook | 1080 to 7680 px per side, 16:9 or 9:16; at least 4 recommended |
| Wear OS | At least 1, 1:1, minimum 384 × 384. App UI only: no device frame, no added text, no background, no transparency |
| Android XR | 4 to 8, 8:5, recommended 3840 × 2400 (minimum 1920 × 1200), PNG or JPEG up to 8 MB each |
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500, JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha — the wide banner at the top of your listing |
| App icon | 512 × 512, 32-bit PNG with alpha, max 1024 KB |
Feature graphic tip: keep the logo and headline inside a ~80% safe area; Play crops differently on tablets vs phones. No transparency, no rounded corners baked into the PNG.
What is the Google Play feature graphic?
The feature graphic is the wide banner at the top of your Play Store listing on the web and in many Play surfaces. Size is fixed: 1024 × 500 px, JPEG or 24-bit PNG, no alpha. Older docs also mentioned a “promotional graphic” (180 × 120) — that asset is obsolete; only the feature graphic is required for a modern listing.
Keep logo and headline inside a safe ~80% centre; Play crops edges differently on phone vs tablet. Round corners are applied by the store — don’t bake them into the PNG. Free frames: AppShot (export any canvas size; design the 1024×500 banner separately or crop from a store screenshot layout).
App Store App Preview video sizes (2026)
App Previews are optional short videos on the product page (up to 3 per device class). Capture from a real device or the Simulator, then crop/scale to the accepted pixel sizes — App Store Connect rejects wrong dimensions with “App Preview is too large” / invalid size errors.
| Device class (Apple's names) | Accepted portrait | Landscape |
|---|---|---|
| Every iPhone with Dynamic Island or Face ID: large and medium displays (iPhone 11 to iPhone 18, Air, 16e/17e) and iPhone Duo | 886 × 1920 | 1920 × 886 |
| iPhone with Home button, large (8 Plus class) and 4" (SE 1st gen class) | 1080 × 1920 | 1920 × 1080 |
| iPhone with Home button, medium (SE 2nd/3rd gen, 8, 7) | 750 × 1334 | 1334 × 750 |
| iPad 13", 11" and 10.5" | 1200 × 1600 | 1600 × 1200 |
| iPad Pro 12.9" (2nd gen) | 1200 × 1600 or 900 × 1200 | 1600 × 1200 or 1200 × 900 |
| iPad 9.7" | 900 × 1200 | 1200 × 900 |
Note that the accepted preview size is not the device's screen size. A 1290 × 2796 iPhone recording has to become 886 × 1920.
Format rules (Apple's App Preview specifications): 15 to 30 seconds, up to 500 MB, max 30 fps, up to 3 previews per device size and language. H.264 (.mov, .m4v or .mp4, ~10–12 Mbps, High Profile up to Level 4.0) or ProRes 422 HQ. Audio is stereo, AAC 256 kbps at 44.1 or 48 kHz. Processing can take up to 24 hours. The two most common surprises are a clip under 15 s and a 60 fps screen recording.
Simulator recordings (xcrun simctl io booted recordVideo) have no audio track. This converts one into an accepted iPhone preview at 30 fps with a silent stereo track:
ffmpeg -i sim.mov -f lavfi -i anullsrc=r=44100:cl=stereo -map 0:v -map 1:a -shortest \
-vf "scale=886:1920:force_original_aspect_ratio=decrease,pad=886:1920:(ow-iw)/2:(oh-ih)/2,fps=30" \
-c:v libx264 -profile:v high -level 4.0 -b:v 11M -pix_fmt yuv420p \
-c:a aac -b:a 256k -ar 44100 -ac 2 preview-886x1920.mp4
Screenshots for the same devices still follow the table above. Videos do not replace the required stills.
The simple recipe
- Design once at 1290 × 2796 (iPhone large display, 9:19.5).
- Export that and 1179 × 2556. It's the same aspect ratio, so one layout scales cleanly.
- If you support iPad, export 2064 × 2752.
- For Google Play, export 1080 × 1920 (4 or more) plus the 1024 × 500 feature graphic.
Captions that work
The first screenshot is read in under two seconds. Lead with the outcome, not the feature, and keep it to 3 to 7 words: "Track every habit in seconds", "Never lose a receipt again", "See every subscription at a glance".

FAQ
What size are App Store screenshots in 2026?
The one required iPhone size is 1179 x 2556 (or 1206 x 2622) for iPhones with Dynamic Island. If your app runs on iPad, you also need 2064 x 2752 (or 2048 x 2732). Other sizes are optional and scaled from the next size up.
Do I still need 6.5-inch or 6.7-inch screenshots?
Only if you don't supply the Dynamic Island sizes. 1284 x 2778 / 1242 x 2688 (Face ID large display) are required only when Dynamic Island large-display screenshots are missing. 1290 x 2796 is optional but a good master size to design at.
What size are Google Play screenshots?
Between 320 and 3840 px per side, with the long side at most twice the short side. To be eligible for Play's recommendation placements, upload at least 4 at 1080 px or larger, for example 1080 x 1920 portrait.
What size are iPhone Duo App Store screenshots?
Outer display 1398 x 2034 and inner display 2007 x 2853 (portrait; landscape is 2034 x 1398 and 2853 x 2007). Apple says they become required from April 2027 for apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later, and that submitting them shows an 'optimized for iPhone Duo' badge on the product page.
What size is an App Store app preview video?
886 x 1920 portrait (1920 x 886 landscape) for every iPhone with Dynamic Island or Face ID, including iPhone Duo; 1200 x 1600 for current iPads. Previews must be 15 to 30 seconds, at most 30 fps and 500 MB, with stereo audio.
Can screenshots have a transparent background?
No. Both stores reject alpha channels in screenshots. Export JPEG or a PNG without transparency.
What are iPad Pro screenshot sizes for App Store review?
Upload 2064 × 2752 or 2048 × 2732 portrait for the 13" class (required when the app runs on iPad). Smaller iPad sizes are optional.
What size is the Google Play feature graphic?
1024 × 500, JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha.
What is the Google Play feature graphic?
1024 × 500 JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha — the wide banner at the top of your Play listing. The old 180 × 120 “promotional graphic” is gone.
What size should an App Store App Preview video be?
Common accepted portrait sizes are 886 × 1920 or 1080 × 1920 for modern iPhones (landscape = swapped). Max ~30 seconds, H.264. See App Preview video sizes.
